Creating your Appropriated Artwork Process
Step 1: Choose your artwork
You will now choose a famous artwork to focus on for your appropriated artwork. 1- Starry Night 2-The Great Wave 3- American Gothic |
Step 2: Create a Mood Board
A mood board is a type of visual presentation or a collage consisting of images, text, and samples of objects in a composition. It can be based upon a set topic or can be any material chosen at random. A mood board can be used to convey a general idea or feeling about a particular topic. Mood boards are not only used in school, but in the beginning of concepts in companies, graphics, artistic jobs and the design world.
What do you need to include? Since you will be creating an appropriated artwork…
Does this need to be completed in my visual diary? You can choose to either- complete a digital version of the mood board (Refer to example 1 below) OR print off images and create an annotated/ designed mood board. (Refer to Example 2) How big should it be? The mood board must be a minimum of one A3 page in your visual diary.

Step 3: Write a Proposal
Now that you have decided on your artwork and planned the mood board, you will write a proposal explaining what you plan to do to appropriate the artwork. You can either: Write this in your visual diary or type and print it out but it MUST be in your visual diary. Answer the below in paragraph format.

Step 4: Create your Appropriated Artwork
-Plan 2x Sketch ideas in your visual dairy -Annotate each sketch What to annotate? - What aspects are changed? -What material might be used in this section? -Any significant art elements or principles? -Overall composition - what is the main feature? -How does this change from the original? Remember to use ANNOTATION WORD BACK AND SENTENCE STARTERS. Click the button below: Following the sketches- begin the final artwork!

Step 5: Evaluation
