What are we doing?
Over the next few weeks we will be creating a contemporary landscape. This landscape will be made of body parts.
What is a landscape?
A landscape artwork is the depiction of natural scenery in art. Landscape artworks usually capture mountains, valleys, bodies of water, fields, forests, and coasts and may or may not include man-made structures as well as people.

- Completing practice drawings of various body parts
- Improving on drawing skill through practising fine-liner, or pen techniques.
- Creating a plan of a landscape using the ‘unconventional’ features, that of body parts.
- To create a finished artwork using rendering techniques to capture tonal values WITH PEN OR FINELINER ONLY!!

STEP 2:
Mark Making Page
Mark Making Page
- Practice drawing using just a pen!
- Using just a pen can be a daunting task. So before you do try out some mark making techniques to help you feel more confident when drawing with a material you can’t erase!
- Use the example images below as inspiration and ideas. Your page can be in any format you like.
- Enjoy the process and don’t worry what it looks like. You are building drawing skills be making varied and unusual marks.
- Use a biro (pen), fine liner or any other black pen. Experiment with different materials if you can to see what marks you can make.

2- Select a minimum of 4 body parts- add images to research page
3- Annotate
Create a research page.
First you must select a landscape image then relevant body part images. Paste landscape inspiration image into your sketchbook or add to word document. Add images of the body parts. Annotate which body parts will be used to create the relevant features on your landscape.

Step 4:
Sketch Design Sketch your ideas and composition in your visual diary. Plan your landscape looking at a focal point and ensure the page/ composition is landscape. Fit in certain bones, cells, body parts and more to create your landscape. Think about certain forms that are similar to different body parts. Consider creating balance, symmetrical or asymmetrical balance. (One sketch - around A4 size) |
